Retired Cop Shoots Armed Robber In Chester Co. Turkey Hill: DA

A retired cop shot an armed robber several times during an incident at a local Turkey Hill, authorities said.

WEST CHESTER, PA — A retired police officer shot an armed robber inside a Turkey Hill gas station recently, stopping the robbery and rescuing the employees who were being held at gunpoint, authorities said.

The incident occurred just before midnight on Tuesday, May 28 at the Turkey Hill on East Lincoln Highway in Coatesville.

The robber, Lawrence Galloway, 33, entered the store and pointed a stolen handgun at the heads of two employees, demanding cash, the District Attorney's Office said.

That's when the retired officer, who was waiting in the parking lot to pick up a friend, sprang into action.

He entered the store and shot the robber several times in the lower part of his body, disabling him, police said.

Authorities arrived shortly thereafter and transported the robber to the hospital for treatment. He is being charged with armed robbery and related counts.
