Shine a Light on Human Rights
Be a human rights hero! Save lives. Meet other dedicated individuals. Join Amnesty International.

In autocratic regimes around the world, prisoners of conscience are locked in jails, denied due process of law, and deprived of contact with their families. Secrecy and anonymity guarantee that they will be forgotten. You, however, have the power to shine a light on their captivity. You can publicize their cases and warn their governments that the world is watching.
We are Amnesty International, and we defend the rights of prisoners of conscience around the world,
individuals persecuted solely for the peaceful expression of their views. Ordinary people just like you participate in our campaigns on their behalf. The letters you send to government officials draw these
prisoners out of the shadows. One such victory is Lahpai Gam, detained in Myanmar since June 2012. Falsely accused of being a member of an “unlawful” association and tortured during interrogation, Gam was
released on April 17, 2018, thanks to the efforts of our members.
Want to help save prisoners like Lahpai Gam? Amnesty International USA Group 342 meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:30pm in Wegmans Café, 50 Foundry Way (at Rt. 29), Malvern, PA. Join us on May 16. Can't make it to the meeting? Check out Amnesty International’s urgent action page. Send an appeal by mail or save a life with a click of your mouse.
