Two Family Dogs Found Dead In Chester County

In case you missed it: tragedy struck one local family after their two dogs went missing.

WEST CHESTER, PA -- Tragedy struck one local family after their two dogs went missing on March 31, the Brandywine Valley SPCA said.

The Downingtown family first noticed that one of their dogs, Buddha, was missing on Thursday, the SPCA said. A second dog, Oliver, went missing shortly thereafter, off to look for Buddha, owners believe.

Just hours later, a construction worker on Sawmill Road reported the dogs lifeless on an embankment nearby, the SPCA said.

The pets were stripped of their collars and identification.

The family said they had lived in the quiet, peaceful Downington area for 13 years.

"Ollie and Buddha’s owners are shocked to have an act so violent and cruel occur in a place where they found such comfort and ease," the SPCA said.

Adam Lamb, CEO of the the Brandywine Valley SPCA, is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest of the perpetrators.

Shelter veterinarians are performing an examination for the investigation and APS is continuing to work with State Police, the SPCA said.

The BVSPCA cautions residents to be vigilant with their pets and direct any information to the APS Humane Law Enforcement Officer at 484-302-0019.
