Weekend Shooting In West Chester Was Accidental: Cops

Police said that a man accidentally shot himself in the leg with his handgun.

WEST CHESTER, PA -- The shooting in the borough over the weekend was accidental in nature, police said.

The incident occurred on Saturday, Sept. 8 at around 1:10 p.m. at a home on the 300 block of E. Nields Street.

The victim, a 22-year-old man from Berwyn, shot himself in the leg by accident with his Sig Sauer 9mm handgun, police said.

He was taken to Paoli Hospital by Good Fellowship Ambulance where he was treated. He is currently recovering.

The victim did not have a valid permit for the handgun, according to authorities. West Chester Police are leading the ongoing investigation.
