West Chester Student Workers Want Better Wages, Tuition Freeze
Student workers at West Chester University are demanding $15/hour minimum wage and a tuition freeze.

WEST CHESTER, PA -- Student workers at West Chester University are demanding better pay and a tuition freeze. The students are part of a statewide group called the Pennsylvania Student Power Network that is organizing at campuses throughout the PA State System of Higher Education. That includes 14 schools.
The group is specifically targeting a $15/hour minimum wage for student workers, and a five year freeze on tuition.
A "kickoff event" to the campaign will be held at West Chester's Sykes Student Union on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 3:30 p.m.

"Fighting for $15 an hour for campus workers means that students like myself who only make minimum wage or slightly above will be able to pay rent and buy textbooks and groceries without struggling or deciding which is more important,” Joshua Weaver, a Millersville University junior, said in a statement posted to the group's Facebook page.
The group is also helping to rally for other causes including defending undocumented students and workers, and protesting the immigration ban and the proposed border wall in Mexico.
