Wilkes-Barre fire displaces family of 5 (citizensvoice.com) — A family of five was displaced after a fire Tuesday afternoon at 119 Madison Street in Wilkes-Barre, though everyone escaped safely thanks to working smoke detectors. City firefighters quickly knocked down the blaze, and the Red Cross is helping the adults and children while investigators determine the cause.

Market St road work causes closures and traffic delays (2822news.com) — Expect traffic backups today near the Market Street Bridge in Wilkes-Barre, where paving work is closing lanes on River and Northampton streets. Council members also pressed for tougher enforcement on noisy vehicles and e-bikes, while residents questioned why city-backed grant money would improve a golf course located outside city limits.

United Way, Wilkes-Barre to celebrate Dolly Parton on Friday (timesleader.com) — Wilkes-Barre is marking this Friday as "Dolly Parton Day," honoring her Imagination Library's impact on local children and families through a mayoral proclamation on Public Square. United Way of Wyoming Valley invites residents to dress Dolly-inspired, read with kids, perform acts of kindness, and share photos as the Luzerne County Courthouse glows pink to celebrate a program that has mailed over 300,000 free books locally.
   

5. Drive-thru coffee franchise plans location at former Burger King in South Abington Twp. (thetimes-tribune.com) — A new 7 Brew drive-thru coffee shop is planned for the former Sonic site near Wyoming Valley Mall in Wilkes-Barre Township, adding another option alongside a proposed South Abington location. Developers are seeking zoning approvals, including brighter lighting, as the chain expands its specialty drink offerings into the Wyoming Valley area.
