$10K Stolen In Grandson Call Scam In Lower Makefield: Police
Lower Makefield Township Police are investigating Aug. 24 fraud incident.
LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —Their grandson was calling. He had been arrested and needed cash fast. But that wasn't the case in a fraud scam in which a victim was bilked out of $10,000, police said.
Lower Makefield Township Police said a resident in the 1200 block of University Drive reported receiving a call from whom they believed was their grandson seeking immediate help just before 11 a.m. on Aug. 24.
The victim withdrew $10,000 from their account and handed a box with the cash to an unknown male in a black SUV who arrived at their home, police said.

A fraud attempt was then tried a second time.
The victim was then contacted by someone claiming to be an attorney and requested an additional $30,000, but the money was not given to anyone, police said.
