15 Road Signs Stolen, $3,000 Check Cashed Top Lower Makefield Crimes

The Lower Makefield Township Police Department reported its recent police blotter, including someone's medical insurance being canceled.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —Stolen road signs, a cashed $3,000 check, and unauthorized use of a credit card top the Lower Makefield Township Police Department's most recent criminal incidents.

Here are the reported crimes:

  • Credit Card Fraud —500 block Aspen Woods Drive., reported at 10:40 a.m. Dec. 16. The complainant reported unauthorized use of their credit card in the amount of $523.
  • Fraud —300 block of Oxford Valley Road, reported at 12:39 p.m., Dec. 16. The complainant reported the theft of a check for $5,000. When an unknown subject attempted to unsuccessfully cash the check, they washed it and changed it to $3,000 and were successful in cashing it.
  • Fraud —500 block of Franklin Circle, reported at 4:34 p.m., Dec. 16. The complainant reported an unknown person(s) canceled their medical insurance.
  • Theft —900 block Mirror Lake Road at Artist of Yardley, reported at 10:21 a.m., Dec. 16. The complainant reported the theft of 15 road signs.
  • Theft From Vehicle —300 block of Newtown-Yardley Road, reported at 10:16 a.m. Dec. 16. The complainant reported that sometime overnight, an unknown person(s) removed the license plate from their vehicle.
  • Wanted Person —1000 block of River Rd. at Macclesfield Park, reported at 10:50 p.m. Dec. 16. Police on patrol observed a vehicle in the park after hours. Further investigation revealed that a 32-year-old Ewing, N.J. man was wanted by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office for simple assault. He was taken into police custody.
  • Identity Theft —1300 block of Chase Road, reported at 11:52 a.m. Dec. 16. The complainant reported an unknown person(s) opened a savings account in their name.
