YARDLEY, PA —Borough officials hope to have the 2023 budget approved by Dec. 6.

In her recent report to Borough Council, Borough Manager Paula Johnson presented the 2023 budget calendar and said she hopes to provide a five-year forecasting for some items.

Councilman Matt Curtin had moved to adopt that calendar at the council's Aug. 16 meeting. During Tuesday night's meeting, Curtin said that he was happy to have new councilman Don Carlson on board.

"I welcome him. He's just in time for budget season," Curtin said. "He needs to familiarize himself with the budget so we can get something to council and proceed on the timeline."

In other borough business over the Aug. 16 and Sept. 6 meetings, the council also prepared for this winter and a few to follow:

  • The council unanimously approved a three-year snowplow contract for 2022 through 2025 with JP Tomlinson, LLC for $165/170/175 a ton each year over the three years.
  • Morton Salt won the salt bid for $67.76 a ton delivered and $67 a ton undelivered.

Johnson said the Morton Salt contract is slightly higher —a $1 more per ton —but that most municipalities in the Bucks County consortium use the business for salt work.
