Baseball Card Fraud, $21K Vehicle Sale Fail In Lower Makefield: Police
Lower Makefield Township police reported numerous fraud cases in its police blotter, including a PayPal scheme and a gift card scam.
LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —The baseball card was purchased but never delivered. The vehicle was sold but the $21,450 check turned out fraudulent. And almost $700 was stolen from a bank account regarding an alleged PayPal notification.
Those were some of the crimes the Lower Makefield Township Police Department released in its police blotter of recent criminal incidents.

- Criminal Trespass —1600 block of Big Oak Road, reported at 2:35 p.m., Dec. 8. The Shop Rite reported a suspect in the store who was previously trespassed for committing retail theft. The 41-year-old Lower Makefield Township man was cited for criminal trespass.
- Accident/DUI Arrest —Stony Hill Road and Bluestone Dr. reported at 6:51 p.m. Dec. 8. Police responded to the report of a hit-and-run accident at the location. Further investigation led to the arrest of a 24-year-old old Lower Makefield Township woman for Driving Under the Influence.
- Theft —1600 block of Makefield Road, reported at 9:08 a.m. Dec. 7. The complainant reported the theft of an Amazon package from the front porch.
- Fraud —500 block of Wren Song Road, reported at 10:05 a.m. Dec. 7. The complainant reported receiving a check for $10,000 and purchasing various gift cards, and sending the numbers to an unknown person. The check was later deemed fraudulent.
- Fraud —1500 block of Old Farm Court, reported at 5:46 p.m. Dec. 6. The complainant reported receiving a fraudulent check in the amount of $21,450 for the sale of a vehicle.
- Theft —100 block of River Road, reported at 9:24 a.m. Dec. 4. The complainant reported finding an electric bicycle on the canal path. Further investigation revealed the owner stated the bike was taken from their residence sometime overnight.
- Theft From Vehicle —600 block of W. Melissa Circle, reported at 6:29 a.m., Dec. 3. The complainant reported sometime overnight, an unknown person(s) entered the unlocked vehicle and removed $4,105 worth of personal items.
- Theft From Vehicle —600 block of W. Melissa Circle, reported at 10:26 a.m., Dec. 3. The complainant reported sometime overnight, an unknown person(s) entered the unlocked vehicle and removed a briefcase.
- Attempted Theft From Vehicle —1500 block of Page Drive, reported at 11:58 a.m. Dec. 3. The complainant reported sometime overnight, an unknown person(s) attempted to open the unlocked vehicle.
- Fraud —1200 block of Dickinson Drive, reported at 1:37 p.m., Dec. 3. The complainant reported $697 stolen from their bank account after being contacted regarding fraud on their PayPal account.
- Retail Theft —1600 block of Big Oak Road at Shop Rite, reported at 6:26 p.m., Dec. 3. Loss Prevention detained a 57-year-old Abbeville, GA, woman for taking $626.33 worth of merchandise without paying. She was taken into police custody and found to be wanted by Bucks County Sheriff’s Office for a probation violation. She was turned over to the Sheriff’s Department and Bucks County Prison.
- Fraud —600 block of Kathy Drive, reported at 12:30 p.m., Dec. 2. The complainant reported purchasing a baseball trading card through Facebook Marketplace, but the merchandise was never sent, and the seller is no longer responding or refunding the money.
- Retail Theft —1600 block of Big Oak Road at Shop Rite, reported at 5:45 p.m. Dec. 2. Loss Prevention detained a 30-year-old Philadelphia woman for taking $184.25 worth of merchandise without paying. She was taken into police custody.
