Join the Yardley Bird Town Pennsylvania group and Yardley EAC for a bird walk to observe and learn about the birds that call our town home! Since this walk is part of our "Summer Series" we will be focusing on birds that breed in the area. We'll touch on the ongoing Pennsylvania Bird Atlas project as well to catalogue these breeding species.
We will meet at Lake Afton by the Library. Then we will walk down Afton Ave. to the Delaware River near the Yardley Veteran’s Memorial to bird at the Yardley Riverside Garden. Then, we will walk to the Delaware Canal Towpath and travel north .5 miles to the Yardley Trail Head.
- We encourage you to bring binoculars or cameras but they are not required
- Dress appropriately for being outdoors in the sun
- This is a rain or shine event unless it is a torrential downpour
- Wear comfortable shoes you are okay with getting dirty, the towpath can be muddy after rain
- Please leave all pets at home for this walk
More about Bird Town Pennsylvania:
Bird Town Pennsylvania works in partnership with local municipalities and like-minded organizations to promote community-based conservation actions to create a healthier, more sustainable environment for birds, wildlife, and people.
The program provides tools for municipalities to engage, educate and empower their residents, schools and businesses to make more positive ecologically friendly decisions and promotes a culture of conservation where everyone is a potential steward of nature in their own backyard and beyond.
Restoration of natural ecosystems and native plant communities for birds, pollinators and other wildlife, on both private and public lands, has positive impacts on our communities including creating healthier habitats, reducing stormwater runoff and building a sense of community.
