Chlorine Taste, Odor Reported In Yardley Water

Officials say they are aware of the reports after water department crews opened up a connection with a neighboring water provider.

YARDLEY, PA — Local officials say they are aware of reports of water in the Yardley area tasting and smelling like chlorine — and they say that the water remains safe.

On Thursday evening, crews opened up a connection with a neighboring water provider. That was done to ensure residents have enough water after some technical problems at the water treatment plant in Lower Makefield.

"We want to emphasize the water quality continues to meet all regulatory standards and is safe to use for all purposes," Pennsylvania American Water said in a news release.

Officials are contacting customers via an automated notification system. They'll be notified again when the issues have been corrected, Pennsylvania American said.

Earlier this week, officials had announced that the Morrisville Water Department would be flushing its water mains this week and that low water pressure and slight discoloration would be possible during that time.
