Six ducks will be displayed at various locations, including Buttonwood Park, along Main Street, Fitzgerald Park, and on Afton Avenue near the canal.
“Thanks to the contributions of our artists and sponsors, this project has come to fruition with vibrance, color, and imagination that is sure to capture the fascination and admiration of many!” says Liz Young, owner of Commonplace Reader and a leader of the Duck Walk project. “These spectacular displays will give the public yet one more reason to visit Yardley and enjoy the numerous amenities our town has to offer.”

The Ducks of Yardley
By Corie Feiner
The ducks of Yardley have a bloodline that would make the Daughters of the American Revolution proud.
Descended from the largest duck farm in America, they are the Kings (and Queens) of Yardley who, each morning, leave Lake Afton and take their morning stroll across Main Street.
Not just any stroll— a slow stroll where they stop, preen, and laugh as we wait, even if we are late for work, even if Main Street is backed up for miles, we wait the same way we wait for a royal parade. They are Imperial, after all.
In Yardley, we break for ducks.
Take Mary Ann who was late for work at GMC because she had to wait for the ducks waddling across Main Street. Her coworkers laughed, her manager scoffed, but when the owner learned that she was waiting for the ducks of Yardley he told everyone to leave her alone.
Just like we leave them alone as they make our lawns, our rivers, our canals, our towpath, and our own front steps their home.
And now we welcome Dolly, Dapper, Blue, Monte, Mabel, and Chester— our king-sized fiberglass fowl painted and preened, perfectly pleased with all that is Yardley.
Dapper who sits proudly in Buttonwood Park donning a tux for the “best prom in America.”
Dolly, whose colorful coat greets those who enter our town saying, All are welcome here.
Mabel, emblazed with red, green, and gold tattoos to remind us that no matter how dark any season may be, there are flowers who never lose their bloom.
Monte, who sits with us at the Yardley Inn like an old pal saying, History lives on these streets and inside us all.
Blue, whose sides span with the train bridge over the Delaware River and the sunset sky opening its fiery arms over Patterson Farm.
And Chester, whose spun glass feathers unfurl with firetrucks, streetcars, and ferries to honor how this small town has been the intersection of all of America.
Today, let us remember to laugh with the ducks and that sometimes we need to fly, sometimes we need to swim, sometimes we need to dive and sometimes we need to sit still and take it all in as we finally realize the real reason the chicken crossed the road is because it was following a duck.
