Fire Hydrant Testing, Water System Flushing In Lower Makefield

Pennsylvania American Water crews are conducting routine flushing through Friday.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —Pennsylvania American Water crews are conducting routine flushing of the township's water distribution system through Friday.

Work began Monday and lasts through the rest of the week, a company notification stated.

The flushing is happening between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. It allows the water company to test and maintain fire hydrants.

The water company stated that residents may notice reduced pressure or discolored water when crews are working. If water is discolored, residents should run the cold water taps only, at the lowest level of the house, for about three-to-five minutes until the water runs clear.

If discolored water occurs, residents are advised not to do laundry.

American Water requests, in regards to the safety of employees and residents, not to approach crews while they work.
