History on Sale: Lower Makefield Township Offering Mercer Tile
Lower Makefield Township is selling items showcasing its history dating to William Penn. The township is one of the first in Bucks County.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —As one of Bucks County's original five townships then known as Makefield, Lower Makefield Township boasts a history dating back to 1682.
Why not display some of that history in your home?
It might not be at the top of everyone's Christmas list, but Lower Makefield Township is selling some items for the holiday season that showcase its historical landmarks, a tile depicting the township's logo, and a few maps.

The items —available at the township office on 1100 Edgewood Rd. —are:
- $5 A Guide to Lower Makefield's Historic Landmarks
- $20 Mercer Tile Depicting the Lower Makefield logo
- $20 Map of Original Grantees
- $20 1798 Map of Lower Makefield Township
Lower Makefield boasts on the Historical Commission page on its website that it is the first township in Bucks County in more than 25 years to commission a commemorative tile with the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works.

Created by the head ceramist at the Tile Works, the authentic 4″ x 4″ Mercer tile is hand-crafted from local clay, using the same methods made famous by Henry Mercer.
The tile comes packaged in a gift box with a gold stretch tie. Sales will be used to help to promote awareness of the township's township historic homes.
