The Nov. 20 event hosted by the Yardley Historical Association is a prelude to upcoming open houses throughout December.
YARDLEY, PA —Those interested in trains can watch the holiday model train layout in the process of being set up.
The "Pop-Up" event from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Old Library by Lake Afton, 46 West Afton Ave., on Sunday, Nov. 20, also will feature “Yardley” gifts.

Highlights of the events are tooting trains running through an expansive layout reminiscent of the town. At the pop-up, Dean Dickson, engineer-in-chief, will position all the paraphernalia that makes the layout so dynamic. He will be pleased to share how-tos and demonstrate the equipment.
For those who want to give gifts that are local, an assortment of “Yardley” gifts will be available to purchase.

New this year are “Yardley’s Dream” mugs and notecards, as well as the third edition porcelain ornament depicting the Old Library. Embroidered tea towels, books of all sorts, postcards and prints will be on hand.
In December, plan to return to the Old Library by Lake Afton to see it decked in its holiday best. There will be the trains, a real fir tree decked Victorian-style with candles and cranberry and popcorn chains, and treats for all.
In the spirit of the season, the Pop-Up and the Open Houses are free.
Donations are always welcome. Proceeds will benefit the Historical Association’s efforts to maintain the Victorian library building and its collections of books, documents, and ephemera related to Yardley’s history.
