Human Remains Identified In Lower Makefield

The Bucks County Coroner's Office has identified the human remains from a fire in a Lower Makefield cemetery last week.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —The Bucks County Coroner's Office has identified the human remains found following a vehicle fire in a township cemetery last week.

John Motyka, 74, of Morrisville, was identified through dental records, the coroner's office said. The cause of death is still pending.

Lower Makefield Township Police recently provided an update on their investigation involving the human remains that were found.

Last Wednesday night, Police and the Yardley-Makefield Fire Department responded to the River Road cemetery for the report of a brush fire.

Police and the fire department determined that the fire was in a vehicle located at the rear of the cemetery property.

Fire crews extinguished the vehicle fire and then discovered that human remains were inside the vehicle.

The human remains were located in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.

Deputy Police Chief Bob Lewis said that the owner has been identified of the vehicle that was parked in the St. Ignatius Cemetery off River Road.

Lewis did not identify the owner but said the car was registered locally. He also said that the vehicle was not reported stolen.
