Morrisville Felon Arrested On Illegal Gun And Drug Charges

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. — An investigation by the Bucks County Detectives Drug Strike Force led to the arrest of a 33-year-old felon from Morrisville Borough and the seizure of three ghost guns, two rifles, ammunition and tools used to make additional firearms.

Andrew Richard Bizon, of Harper Avenue, was charged with five felony counts of prohibited possession of a firearm, along with misdemeanor counts of possession of an instrument of crime, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Terrence P. Hughes Jr. and was sent to Bucks County Correctional Facility under $500,000 bail, 10 percent.

At 12:32 p.m. Thursday, detectives with the drug strike force executed a search and seizure warrant at Bizon’s residence in the 100 block of Harper Avenue. Bizon was detained after he exited the home.

In an upstairs bedroom, the search uncovered the two rifles and three fully assembled ghost guns, described as untraceable firearms without serial numbers. Detectives also seized approximately 1,000 rounds of ammunition and multiple magazines including high-capacity magazines, as well as drill and tool kits for firearm assembly.

Additionally, the search uncovered two bundles of heroin/fentanyl and three glassine bags containing additional heroin/fentanyl.

According to a criminal complaint, Bizon was interviewed and admitted to possessing the firearms despite being a person not to possess. A criminal history check revealed a 2010 conviction on a felony drug charge. Bizon also admitted he fired one of the guns he built behind his home in Morrisville.

"Once again, our Bucks County Drug Strike Force arrested a felon who was in possession of illegal guns and drugs before this terrible combination could wreak deadly havoc on our community," District Attorney Matt Weintraub said. "Our Strike Force is saving lives by doing this hard and dangerous work. In order to keep our community safe, we remain committed to taking as many felons possessing guns and drugs off the street as possible."

Since the start of the year, the DA’s Office has made gun safety a priority, investigating and prosecuting those who illegally possess and sell firearms.

Earlier this summer, Drug Strike Force Detectives dismantled a ring that supplied methamphetamine and firearms, including automatic weapons and ghost guns to areas of Lower Bucks County and North Philadelphia. In March, in a joint operation by Bucks County Detectives, the Office of Attorney General’s Gun Violence Task Force and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, a 25-year-old Philadelphia man was arrested for the illegal straw purchases of 16 firearms.

This week’s arrest by the Bucks County Detectives Drug Strike Force, was conducted with support from the Morrisville Borough Police Department, Quakertown Borough Police Department, and the United States Postal Inspector Service, and with the assistance of the Liberty Mid-Atlantic High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (LMA HIDTA), a grant program created by Congress to reduce drug trafficking and drug production in the United States by facilitating interagency cooperation and intelligence sharing through the distribution of mission-critical funding and resources that would otherwise be unavailable in the region.
