One Critically Injured In Lower Makefield Township Crash

Lower Makefield Township Police said a BMW rolled over on Stony Hill Road after a collision Monday. Several injuries were reported.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —One person is in critical condition following a two-vehicle crash on Stony Hill Road Monday afternoon, police said.

The Lower Makefield Township Police Department is investigating the cause of the two-vehicle crash at 1:31 p.m., just south of the Newtown Bypass.

Police said an initial investigation determined that a Mini Cooper driven by a man exited the Lower Makefield office complex onto Stony Hill Road, striking a BMW SUV traveling north on Stony Hill Road by the bypass.

Upon impact, the BMW spun around and rolled over, police said.

Five occupants were inside the BMW, two being ejected from the vehicle. Three other occupants were extricated, police said.

The operator of the Mini Cooper was treated on the scene, police said.

The BMW's occupants were treated by responding fire, police, and paramedic personnel. Numerous rescue squad units (Yardley-Makefield-Penndel-Middletown-Newtown), as well as their respective fire and police, responded to the scene, police said.

The occupants of the SUV were treated and transported to area hospitals. Their condition at this time is unknown.

A fifth occupant was taken by helicopter to Temple Hospital and is listed in critical condition. The extent of the injuries was unknown at this time.

Stony Hill Road will be closed until the conclusion of the investigation. Motorists should avoid the area, police said.

Lower Makefield and Bucks County accident investigators are investigating the accident.
