PECO Project Will Last Into June In Lower Makefield
The utility is performing tree removal, pole replacements, and other work in Lower Makefield. Find out where and when it will end below.
LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —The township is undergoing a PECO Reliability and Resilience Project.
Township officials said that work began this month and that about $260,000 will be invested in the project.
PECO will upgrade and install new, innovative equipment, including new poles and tree-resistant aerial wire to provide you with safe & reliable service and meet the evolving needs of customers.

The utility will also install advanced devices that can stop the flow of electricity if a problem occurs and automatically restore electricity where possible.
As part of the work, PECO will begin an enhanced tree work program across the region to reduce the number of outages caused by trees and other vegetation.

All work is performed by PECO crews and qualified PECO contractors.
Tree Work
- PECO will invest an additional $320 million on tree work across 600 miles of aerial electric lines during the next decade.
- The work will include tree trimming, and tree removal and may involve work in backyards.
- PECO will notify customers if any tree work must occur on their property and will work directly with those customers to develop a plan.
- PECO works with certified arborists and professional foresters & adheres to national ANSI A300 standards when managing tree trimming & removals.
Timeline
- Tree work was scheduled to begin in early April with work on electrical equipment, including poles and wires, is scheduled to start once tree trimming work is complete.
- The project is expected to be completed in late June.
- Work will occur along Marsha Terrace, Roelofs Road, Richie Lane, Derbyshire Road, Gloria Lane, David Terrace, Esther Lane, Irving Road, Jack Road and Big Oak Road.
