Police Safety Shields Bought Through Yardley Businessman's Donation
The Yardley Borough Police Department purchased two ballistic mini shields with a donation it received from John Simone of Simone Realty.
YARDLEY, PA —The Yardley Borough Police Department has some new police protection.
The police department said it has purchased two ballistic mini shields through the second annual police safety donation by John Simone of Simone Realty.
"Our sincere thanks to Mr. John Simone annual donation to the YBPD earmarked for police & safety equipment," the department posted on its Facebook page. "Our thanks to Mr. Simone for his generosity and continued commitment to officer safety."

The shields will be assigned to patrol units for quick deployment and will provide additional protection if needed to levels higher than the officers’ body armor, the police department said.
Police Chief Joseph Kelly III is planning on hiring an additional officer to the police force. The hiring was delayed at Tuesday's borough council meeting. The police department added a part-time officer in Robert Gergal Jr. early last month.
