'Pretend Boss' Emailed For $1,000 Gift Card Purchase: Police

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —The boss sent an email and wanted $1,000 worth of gift cards purchased.
That fraud case was one of several cases reported in the most recent crime and police report from the Lower Makefield Township Police Department.
Police said that a complainant on the 1700 block of Makefield Road reported at noon Sept. 2 that an unknown person contacted them via email pretending to be their boss and asked them to purchase $1,000 worth of gift cards.

- CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - 1000 block of River Road at Macclesfield Park reported at 4:38 p.m. Complainant reported sometime between 9/2-9/7, unknown person(s) turfed the field causing $800 worth of damage.
9/7/2022
- THEFT FROM VEHICLE – 14000 block of Cornerstone Drive reported at 9:20 a.m. Complainant reported sometime overnight, unknown person(s) entered the unlocked vehicle and removed $20 and a bike rack.
- CRIMINAL MISCHIEF – Gordon Dr. & Noreen Drive reported at 6:52 p.m. Complainant reported juveniles throwing rocks at their passing vehicle.

- IDENTITY THEFT – 1200 block of Fountain Road reported at 3:00 p.m. Complainant reported unknown person(s) attempted to open a bank account in their name.
9/2/2022
- THEFT – 500 block of River Road reported at 10:30 a.m. Complainant reported theft of their kayak left along the river embankment.
- DUI ARREST - Stony Hill Road & Route 332 reported at 9:54 p.m. Police on patrol stopped a vehicle for violations. Further investigation led to the arrest of the 47-year-old male driver from Langhorne for Driving Under the Influence.
