Route 32 Reopens Following Bucks Co. Flood Damage
River Road is now open in Upper and Lower Makefield townships after being closed from Saturday's flash flooding, PennDOT said.

UPPER / LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIPS, PA —Route 32 is now open once again after being closed since Saturday following flash flooding that claimed the lives of five people, PennDOT said.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said Tuesday that Route 32 (River Road) has reopened between Taylorsville Road and Woodside Road in Upper Makefield and Lower Makefield townships following flood damage repair.
The section of Route 32 (River Road) was closed on Saturday night due to heavy flooding from severe storms.

Two additional state highways, Route 532 (Washington Crossing Road) and Taylorsville Road remain closed for additional cleanup and repair.
Motorists are advised of the following closures:

- Route 532 (Washington Crossing Road) between Dolington Road and Wrightstown Road in Upper Makefield Township; and
- Taylorsville Road between Route 532 (Washington Crossing Road) and Woodside Road in Upper Makefield and Lower Makefield townships.
During the closures, motorists will continue to use Taylorsville Road, Route 532 (Washington Crossing Road), Wrightsville Road, Eagle Road, Stoopville Road, Lindenhurst Road and Route 332 (Yardley Newtown Road/Afton Avenue). Local access will be maintained up to the closures.
A modified detour route will be established sometime tomorrow due to the reopening of Route 32 (River Road). Motorists will be directed to use Route 532 (Washington Crossing Road), Wrightstown Road, Eagle Road, Stoopville Road and Dolington Road.
The Route 532 (Washington Crossing Road) and Taylorsville Road closures will remain in place until PennDOT’s contractor can complete the repair work and safely reopen the highways.

The Upper Makefield Police Department said Sunday that the area was hit with a torrential rainstorm, which caused flash flooding along several areas throughout the township.
The worst of the flooding occurred along Rt. 532 in the area of Stonebridge Crossing Road between Aqueduct Road and Wrightstown Road.
Police said the flash flooding caught numerous motorists by surprise and many were trapped with the flood victims getting swept away in Houghs Creek.
