Seward Johnson Sculptures Vandalized In Lower Makefield Twp.: Police

Eight new sculptures were recently unveiled throughout the township. Police are reporting vandalism in a June 16 blotter item.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —They were just installed in early June. But Lower Makefield Township Police are reporting that the new Seward Johnson sculptures have been vandalized.

That incident was one of several reported by the Lower Makefield Township Police Department Friday in its blotter of criminal incidents over the past two weeks.

6/29/2023

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF —1300 block of Pepperbush Court. Reported at 9:19 a.m. The complainant reported an unknown person(s) slashed their tire.

SOLICITORS —Oxford Road and Lakeview Drive, reported at 2:11 p.m. The complainant reported
that solicitors for Greenix Pest Control were soliciting without permits. They were advised to cease
soliciting until a permit was obtained.

RETAIL THEFT —100 block of Oxford Valley Road at CVS, reported at 2:14 p.m. The manager reported that an unknown woman removed about $300 worth of vitamins and supplements without paying. The investigation is ongoing.

SOLICITORS —Unit block of Highland Drive, reported at 1:40 p.m. The complainant reported that a solicitor for Elevated Remodeling was soliciting without a permit. He was advised to cease the
soliciting until a permit was obtained.

IDENTITY THEFT —500 block of South Dove Road, reported at 7:34 p.m. The complainant reported that an unknown person(s) opened a bank account in their name.

DUI ARREST —Oxford Valley Road and Big Oak Road, reported at 1 a.m. Police on patrol stopped a vehicle for violations. Further investigation led to the 50-year-old Langhorne man being charged with driving under the influence.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF:

  • 1000 block of Drew Drive, reported at 11:26 a.m. The complainant reported that an unknown person(s) struck their mailbox sometime overnight, causing $250 worth of damage.
  • 1100 block of Kenneth Lane, reported at 12:41 p.m. The complainant reported an unknown person(s) struck their mailbox sometime overnight.

IDENTITY THEFT —Unit block of Griffin Way reported at 3:46 p.m. The complainant reported an unknown person(s) used their information to withdraw $21,000 from their bank account.

FRAUD —1100 block of Dickinson Drive, reported at 8:15 a.m. The complainant reported their
Venmo account was hacked through Facebook.

FRAUD —1500 block of Clark Drive, reported at 4:16 p.m. The complainant reported receiving
a call from someone claiming to be from their bank and they provided their social security number.

THEFT —600 block of Stony Hill Road at Red Berry Frozen Yogurt, reported at 3:46 p.m. The complainant reported the theft of a bicycle from outside the business.

SOLICITORS —1400 block Scarlet Oak Road, reported at 3:03 p.m. The complainant reported that a solicitor for Brandywine Exteriors was soliciting without a permit.

SOLICITORS —1000 block of Meridian Way, reported at 6:03 p.m. The complainant reported that a solicitor for Verizon was soliciting without a permit. He was advised to cease soliciting until a permit was obtained.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF —500 block of Liberty Drive, reported at 8:43 a.m. The complainant reported that an unknown person(s) egged their residence.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF —1100 block of Edgewood Road, reported at 1 p.m. The parks and recreation director reported that the newly installed statues were vandalized.

Lower Makefield Township recently unveiled eight sculptures from renowned artist and New Jersey native Seward Johnson. The life-size sculptures are on display through Sept. 1.
