Sextortion Scam, $6,100 Check Theft Top Lower Makefield Twp. Crimes

The Lower Makefield Township Police Department Friday released its blotter of criminal incidents for the past week.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —A sextortion scam victim sent $500 to an unknown person, and someone created and cashed a $6,120 check in a resident's bank account.

Those cases were among the criminal incidents of the past week reported in the Lower Makefield Township Police Department's blotter released Friday.

RETAIL THEFT —1600 block of Big Oak Road at Kohl’s, reported at 5:50 p.m. Loss Prevention reported an unknown female filled a bag with clothing and fled the store.

4/25/2023

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF —600 block of Friar Drive, reported at 8:17 a.m. The complainant reported an unknown person(s) shot their vehicle with a BB gun.

SOLICITORS —Makefield Road and Pennsbury Court, reported at 3:07 p.m. The complainant
reported solicitor for Vega Exteriors soliciting without a permit. He was located and advised to cease soliciting until a permit was obtained.

ACCIDENT & DUI ARREST —Newtown-Yardley Road and Langhorne-Yardley Road, reported at 5:30 a.m. Police responded to the report of a one-vehicle accident at the location. Further investigation led to the arrest of the 25-year-old Philadelphia man for Driving Under the Influence.

IDENTITY THEFT —1200 block of Lexington Drive, reported at 9:45 a.m. The complainant reported receiving a statement and debit card for an account that they did not open.

THEFT —900 block of Stony Hill Road, reported at 8:15 a.m. The complainant reported the theft
of copper and welding leads from the construction site.

FRAUD —200 block of Crystal Court, reported at 10:28 a.m. The complainant reported being the victim of a sextortion scam and sending $500 to an unknown person.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF:
  • 500 block of Andrea Place, reported at 8:05 a.m. The complainant reported an unknown person(s) spray-painted their fence overnight.
  • 1400 block of Hidden Pond Drive, reported at 8:33 a.m. The complainant reported an unknown person(s) smashed their vehicle’s windows overnight.

WANTED PERSON & DRUG ARREST —Makefield Road and North Homestead Drive, reported at 1:17 a.m. Police on patrol stopped a pedestrian for investigation. A records check revealed the 42-year-old Lower Makefield Township man was wanted out of Bucks County for child neglect. After a brief struggle, the man was taken into police custody. While searching his person, police located several needles and packets of heroin. He was taken into police custody and charged with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. He was then transferred to the custody of the Bucks County Sheriff.

THEFT —1700 block of Odessa Lane, reported at 2:37 p.m. The complainant reported an unknown
person(s) intercepted mailed checks, altered them, and cashed them.

IDENTITY THEFT —1600 block of Kathy Drive, reported at 3:13 p.m. The complainant reported receiving a credit card in the mail that they did not apply for.

THEFT —3100 block of Danbury Court, reported at 1:29 p.m. The complainant reported a check
was created on their account and cashed in the amount of $6,120. The phone number on their account was also changed.
