Sidewalk Renovations Underway For North Main Street In Yardley

YARDLEY, PA —Borough officials had hoped to beat winter.

Now the race is on as sidewalk renovations on North Main Street—which officials had hoped would start in mid-October —commenced on Monday.

Borough Engineer Patrick Foley told the Borough Council at its Nov. 1 meeting that Phase II of the project was slated to begin the week of Nov. 8th. But that didn't happen.

Council President Caroline Thompson told Patch that the work began on Monday.

Councilman David Appelbaum took a picture Monday of some of the pipes and construction materials gathered at Fitzgerald Field. He also said that a resident told him that some of the asphalt was being torn up on Monday.

The contractor for the project is GB Construction.

Foley said the project has a 90-day completion schedule, which would put its completion at around mid-February.

Borough Manager Paula Johnson, in her budget presentation to the council, had listed the sidewalks project among the borough's 2022 accomplishments.

She said the project was supposed to start in June.

The construction and engineering costs were estimated at $858,850 but with grants that were obtained, that fee was lowered to $235,716 as the cost for the borough, Johnson said.
