Taylor Swift Ticket Facebook Scam Tops Lower Makefield Crimes

The Lower Makefield Township Police Department has released its blotter of recent criminal incidents.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —They thought they were buying Taylor Swift concert tickets from a Facebook friend. Turns out that wasn't the case.

The Lower Township Police Department has released its blotter of criminal incidents from Aug. 8 to Aug. 15, including the Taylor Swift ticket incident.

Aug. 15

FRAUD —Unit block of Fern Drive, reported at 2 p.m. The complainant reported allowing those they thought were Microsoft to access their computer remotely and having $10,000 transferred out of their bank account.

Aug. 12

DUI ARREST —Jacob Drive and Ashbourne Drive, reported at 10:47 p.m. Police on patrol stopped a vehicle for violations. Further investigation led to the arrest of the 33-year-old male driver from Lower Makefield Township for Driving Under the Influence.

Aug. 10

CREDIT CARD FRAUD —300 block of Saly Road, reported at 11:30 a.m. The complainant reported an unauthorized use of their credit card for $2,914.

Aug. 8

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF —1300 block of Moon Drive, reported at 5:41 p.m. The complainant reported purchasing Taylor Swift tickets for $1,200 from someone they believed to be
a Facebook friend, not realizing that friend was hacked.

RETAIL THEFT —1600 block of Big Oak Road at Kohl’s, reported at 5:43 p.m. Loss Prevention reported an unknown couple entered the store and removed an unknown amount of merchandise without paying. An investigation is ongoing.
