Trash Truck Fire Closes Road For Almost 6 Hours: Fire Officials

The fire started in the Makefield Lakes development on Monday afternoon. Crews worked until the evening to get the scene cleaned up.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —The Yardley-Makefield Fire Company responded to a truck fire Monday afternoon that closed a road in the Makefield Lakes development for nearly six hours.

Fire officials said they were dispatched at 1:30 p.m. Monday to the Makefield Lakes development for the fire.

When the fire chief arrived, the trash truck with the cab was well-involved, extending into the rear compartment.

Engine 0 arrived and went into service along with Rescue 80, Engine 98, Utility 80 & 0s crews assisting. Traffic 0 and 01 assisted with traffic control.

The road was closed until 7 p.m. for cleanup, fire officials said.

Fire officials did not say whether anyone was injured in the truck fire.

Earlier in the month, on a Saturday evening, YMFC members were dispatched for a possible vehicle fire westbound on Route 295 in the area of the rest stop.

The fire chief arrived and had an engine compartment well-involved, extending to the passenger compartment. Engine 0 arrived and went into service with Rescue & Utility 80’s crew assisting. Traffic 0 & 01 were also on the scene providing traffic control.
