Vulgar Mailbox Stickers, Stolen Political Sign: Lower Makefield Crimes

The Lower Makefield Township Police Department has reported its criminal incidents for the past week.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —With the general election about a month away, political signs are appearing on the lawns of township residents. And some of them are getting stolen.

A stolen political sign and vulgar stickers being placed on mailboxes were some of the criminal incidents the Lower Makefield Township Police Department released in its blotter of incidents for the past week.

Sept. 26

THEFT —300 block Dunhill Way, reported at 10:05 a.m. The complainant reported the theft of product during the delivery process.

ATTEMPTED FRAUD —600 block of Rose Hollow Drive, reported at 12:56 p.m. The complainant reported receiving a phone call from an unknown person(s) stating they had a warrant out for their arrest and they needed to pay $10,000. The call was disconnected when realizing it was a scam.

RETAIL THEFT:

  • 1600 block of Big Oak Road at Shop Rite, reported at 6 p.m. Loss Prevention reported a known man under scanned items on four separate occasions, causing the store a loss of $112.11. An investigation is ongoing.
  • 1600 block of Big Oak Road at Shop Rite, reported at 6:15 p.m. Loss Prevention reported a known woman under scanned items on four separate occasions, causing the store a loss of $649.91. The investigation is ongoing.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE —Unit block of Ridge Avenue, reported at 9:51 p.m. The complainant reported that sometime overnight, an unknown person(s) entered their unlocked vehicles. Loose change was removed from one vehicle. Nothing was reported missing from the second vehicle.

CREDIT CARD FRAUD —8400 block of Spruce Mill Drive, reported at 1:48 p.m. The complainant reported an unauthorized use of their credit card for $51.00.

Sept. 24

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF —100 block of Mt. Eyre Road, reported at 10:15 a.m. The complainant reported that an unknown person(s) placed vulgar stickers on their mailbox and damaged same.

Sept. 23

FRAUD —800 block of Grange Drive, reported at 6:22 p.m. The complainant reported being the victim of a fraudulent scheme involving PayPal and Bitcoin, thinking they were donating to an orphanage.

Sept. 22

THEFT —1900 block of Woodside Road, reported at 10:31 a.m. The complainant reported the theft
of a political sign. The incident was caught on surveillance. Further investigation led to the
identity of a 46-year-old Newtown man, who will be summonsed for Theft and Receiving Stolen Property.

Sept. 20

ATTEMPTED THEFT FROM VEHICLE —500 block of Keswick Drive, reported at 8:04 a.m. The complainant reported that, sometime overnight, an unknown person(s) attempted to gain entry into two of their vehicles.
