Wegmans Reports 1st Retail Theft Attempts At New Store
Lower Makefield Township Police reported two retail thefts at the Wegmans, which just opened two weeks ago.
LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —The first retail theft has been reported at the new Wegmans supermarket, which opened two weeks ago. There was also an attempted theft.
The Lower Makefield Township Police Department recently released its blotter of criminal incidents for the past week.
On March 26, Loss Prevention reported that a man attempted to leave the store without paying for $646.42 worth of merchandise at the Wegmans on the 900 block of Vansant Drive.

Two days earlier, Loss Prevention reported that a man attempted to leave the store without paying for 16 cans of baby formula.

March 27
- FRAUD —Unit block of Lavender Drive, reported at 1:56 p.m. The complainant reported a suspect intercepted a mailed check, altered it, and cashed it.
- CRIMINAL MISCHIEF —1300 block of Pepperbush Court, reported at 4:12 p.m. The complainant reported unknown person(s) slashed their vehicle’s tire and removed the wiper blades.
March 25
THEFT —1200 block of Buchanan Way, reported at 11:33 a.m. The complainant reported receiving a call from who they believed to be an employee from Zelle. During the conversation, the victim followed the instructions of the caller and lost $2,499.87.
March 24
FRAUD —1400 block of Innis Lane, reported at 9:15 p.m. The complainant reported that a suspect used their money market savings account to create a check for $8,900.
