YARDLEY, PA —The borough is "most charming." That's what a women's lifestyle digital publication believes.

PureWow, a digital company that publishes women's lifestyle content, ranked Yardley No. 6 of 16 "most charming towns" in Pennsylvania which would make for an ideal place to live.

The borough was one of three towns listed in the rankings, beating out Doylestown, which was rated 12th. New Hope had top billing. View the story on Yardley's Facebook page.

"Yardley Borough is honored to have been ranked No. 6 most charming town in PA by PureWow.com although I'd like to see the metrics used because I would have ranked us No. 1," Council President Caroline Thompson said.

PureWow said that Yardley —and neighboring Lower Makefield Township —has many things to do, listing Shady Brook Farm, Touchstone Art Gallery, the 9/11 Memorial Garden, Vault Brewing Co., and Masters of the Skies.

It mentioned places to stay: Historic Tiny Cottage (from $177 per night, sleeps 3); 3 Bedroom River House (from $195 per night, sleeps 5); Centrally Located Cottage (from $150 per night, sleeps 2).

In its writeup, PureWow said this about Yardley:

"Pennsylvania’s small towns are filled with history, but none more so than Yardley. George Washington crossed the Delaware River on Christmas Night in 1776 in this charming town, which has been memorialized with the picturesque Washington Crossing Historic Park and with Bowman's Hill Tower. Today, Yardley is known for its historic town center, which is filled with boutiques, taverns, and old-timey buildings. Families (and childless animal lovers) should head to Shady Brook Farm, one of the largest family-friendly farms in Bucks County, where you can pick your own crops and enjoy annual festivals."

Thompson took the symbolism from the "three little bears" fairy tale.

"Yardley Borough is just right. It's not too big, not too small. Not too loud, not too quiet. Not too developed, not too sleepy," She said. "We are a family-friendly, affordable alternative to our counterpart towns across the river in New Jersey, a vibrant, historic, and close-knit community. But... out of the entire state of Pennsylvania, I guess we'll take No. 6 for now —got to leave space for growth."
