7 Charged With Crimes Related To Medicaid Fraud: Rhode Island AG
The fraud totaled more than $1 million, according to the Rhode Island Attorney General's Office.
Seven men and women were charged with crimes related to Medicaid fraud totaling more than $1 million, the Rhode Island Attorney General's Office announced.
“This Office remains steadfastly committed to holding accountable those who steal public funds and put the health of Rhode Islanders at risk,” Attorney General Peter F. Neronha said in a media release.
“Medicaid fraud is far from a victimless crime — it undermines our already strained health care system by diverting away taxpayer dollars which are intended to provide essential health care services to our state’s most vulnerable residents. I thank the members of our Medicaid Fraud Control Unit for their outstanding work on these cases and their continued efforts to protect public resources while safeguarding access to critical health care services,” Neronha said.
