Rhode Island Warning: Elevated Fire Weather Potential

Rhode Island is at an elevated risk for fire, the National Weather Service warned.

The National Weather Service issued the warning Monday, citing strong southwest winds gusting up to 35 mph, low relative humidity and a lack of recent significant rainfall.

The combination of factors "will lead to an elevated fire weather potential today," according to the National Weather Service.

A mostly clear Monday night with a low of about 50 degrees will follow a sunny and breezy day with a high near 64.

Tuesday will be sunny with a high around 66 followed by a cloudy Tuesday night with a low dropping to 52.

There is chance of showers Wednesday with the high temperature approaching 62 degrees.
