University Of Rhode Island Women's Rowing Threepeats As Atlantic 10 Champs

The Rams won their 12th Atlantic 10 crown in school history

CHERRY HILL, NJ — The University of Rhode Island women's rowing team won its third Atlantic 10 championship in a row Saturday.

The victory was the team's 12th in school history.

With the win, the Rams secured the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship field.

The NCAA Championship begins on Wednesday, May 29, and continues through Sunday, May 31, on Lake Lanier in Gainesville, Georgia.

Rhode Island learns its national seed during the NCAA Division I Selection Show which airs on NCAA.com at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

"The Rams Varsity 8+ boat of Barnhart, Lake, Nordstrom, Mayer, Lily Stasaitis (coxswain), Charlotte Aeder, Sasha Hanewald, Brigid McShea, and Sierra Munroe used historic pace to edge out second place Fordham," the university said in a media release.

"Rhode Island's Second Varsity 8+ boat of Rachel Bauhaus (coxswain), Amanda Cubit, Anna Kann, Payton Klein, Emma Larsh, Maddy Papik, Danika Rogers, Sage Sabatino, and Sophia Thyer set a new A-10 record with a winning pace of 6:39.501," the release said.
