Jobs at Rhode Island businesses were up month-over-month and the unemployment rate was down.
Jobs were up by 300 in June and the unemployment rate dropped to 4.1%, the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training reported Thursday.
While the news was good from May to June, the year-over-year numbers painted a different picture.
Jobs were down 1,900 from June 2025, according to the department, but the unemployment rate was down 0.2%.
"The number of unemployed Rhode Island residents — those residents classified as available for and actively seeking employment — was 23,600, down 1,600 from May," the department said. "The number of unemployed residents was down 1,900 over the year."
