The state recommended closing down the swim areas of four Rhode Island beaches.
The Rhode Island Department of Health recommended shutting down the swim areas of Sandy Point Beach in Portsmouth, Bristol Town Beach in Bristol, Warren Town Beach in Warren and City Park Beach in Warwick.
The department of health recommended the closures due to high bacteria counts.
The department made the announcement regarding all three beaches Thursday.
"RIDOH will continue to monitor and review beach water quality through Labor Day," the department said. "The status of a beach may change as new data becomes available."
