Block Island Is For Lovers, New Study Reveals

BLOCK ISLAND, RI — A recent study revealed that Block Island is the most romantic town in all of America.

The study, conducted by researchers with interactive free tarot card reading website Tarotoo, "analyzed 125 US destinations to reveal where romance actually delivers, not just in marketing photos, but in real guest experiences," according to a media release.

And out of those 125 destinations, Block Island came out on top.

"Ranked first overall, Block Island emerged as the strongest Valentine’s Day destination for couples in 2026 by excelling across nearly every metric," the release said.

"It placed third nationwide for romantic accommodations per capita, recorded the highest average guest satisfaction score in the entire study, and ranked second for airport proximity, making it both intimate and exceptionally easy to reach," according to the release. "The island’s performance shows how smaller destinations can outperform major cities when quality, convenience, and atmosphere align."

New York City placed second behind Block Island and Maui was third.

Block Island wasn't the only Rhode Island town to make Tarotoo's list, undoubtedly due to the Ocean State's reputation for romance and intimacy. Newport placed 81st, sandwiched between Mystic, Connecticut and Cape May, New Jersey.
