Rhode Island Among The Most 'Toxic' States In America For Workers: Study
The new study that ranked states by their levels of "toxic leadership."
Rhode Island ranked among the most "toxic" states in America, a recent study determined.
The study, conducted by researchers from Texas-based personal injury law firm The Barber Law Firm, "tracked nationwide workplace dissatisfaction by analyzing 153 specific Google keywords, including phrases like 'how to deal with a bad boss' and 'how to sue my boss,' from May 2024 to April 2025," according to a media release.

The Barber Law Firm researchers ranked Rhode the sixth most toxic state for workers, sandwiched between fifth place Indiana and seventh place Arkansas.
Rhode Island was most toxic state in the Northeastern United States, according to the study.

"While neighbors like Massachusetts and New Hampshire rank among the "best" states for bosses, Rhode Island’s data shows a unique combination of high online frustration and physical workplace exits," the release said.
Nevada earned the distinction of most toxic in the eyes of the Barber Law Firm researchers.
