Rhode Islanders are more willing to brush off discomfort in their eyes than in their teeth, a recent survey revealed.
The survey of 2,002 respondents conducted by Lenspricer, a price comparison site for contact lenses, showed 54% said they would be more willing to ignore eye pain while only 46% chose tooth pain.

"A striking 76% believe declining eyesight is inevitable, which may explain why so many people delay exams," according to a media release accompanying the results of the survey. "And an eyebrow-raising 85% of contact-lens wearers admitted they clean their glasses with clothing."

Lenspricer listed the following, in order, as the top five most commonly ignored eye symptoms:
- Persistent dry or gritty eyes
- Light sensitivity
- Difficulty reading small text
- Floaters or flashes
- Holding phones or books further away
