Barrington Pee Wees fall to Defending RISMA Champs Old Rochester

The Bagels Etc. Pee Wees lost a tough game to defending division champions Old Rochester on Saturday, 26-12. The Eagles fought hard against an aggressive, stingy Bulldog defense that shuts out most opponents.
Fullback/linebacker Jon Adamson had a monster day on the ground, pounding the ball up the middle for several first downs and huge gains. On one notable play, he ran for 15 yards while dragging a swarm of four Bulldogs on his back to put Barrington on the 5 yard line. After getting pushed back to the 15, Eagles Quarterback Will Rywolt scrambled to the endzone for the touchdown. Fullback Kyle Greenberg added solid yards as always, grinding behind the wedge for some first downs. Tailback Noah Werbel added yards off the sweep, and led the blocking on key drives. Wing back/linebacker Foster Egan was a workhorse all game - carrying the ball, blocking, and making important tackles. Egan also led the most impressive play of the week, stepping in at quarterback and throwing an amazing 30 yard pass that hit receiver Rywolt in stride, who then ran 45 yards to the end zone for the 75 yard touchdown.  Center/Defensive Tackle Owen Valentine continued to deliver perfect snaps and blocks, including two fantastic long snaps on extra point attempts. Blocking was solid on the day, particularly in the second half, anchored by Guards Jack Kovolyan, Meredith Kaplan, and Jack Kelleher and Tackles Oliver Roberts and Harry Masse.

The Eagles made great stops on defense, with several tackles and pressure by Defensive Ends Ben Silva and Hunter Norris, who both stopped the Bulldog running backs for losses multiple times. Cornerback Seth Mitchell was strong, with several great tackles as well as making a solo stop to prevent an Old Rochester touchdown. Tackles Robert Cahill, Sergio DaSilva and Zach Pacheco stuffed the running attack up the middle, with End Nick Figueroa containing the sweep.  Linebacker Martin Agustin provided strong pass coverage and assisted on stops. Tackle Chase White was in on many tackles and hurries, and did an great job kicking off. White also made two excellent extra point attempts.

The Pee Wees are home again this Saturday to face North Kingston at Barrington High School.
