Shop Locally in Barrington on Small Business Saturday

Today is Small Business Saturday. It is a day for everyone to support the small businesses that their community thrives on.

American Express founded the day in 2010 to help small businesses get exposure during the holiday season, when they might be otherwise overlooked. With retailers buzzing around the holidays, it is important to support local small businesses that rely on their neighbors in order to continue prospering and building the local economy in Barrington.

"Barrington Books & The Studio is proudly participating in Small Business Saturday for the third year in a row," said Jennifer Massotti, store manager. "As Rhode Island's largest independently owned bookstore for more than 25 years, we have an informed perspective on small retail business, and the importance of initiatives likes SBS from American Express."

"Grapes & Grains is participating in Small Business Saturday," said Matthew Amaral, store owner. "We'll be open from 10 am to 8:30 pm."

Last year, 100 million people nationwide participated in Small Business Saturday by shopping at locally owned stores to help boost the economy and their communities.

Besides Barrington Books and Grapes & Grains in Barrington, the Tyler Point Grille, Sweet Lorraine's candy shop, the Barrington Veterinary Clinic, MJF Engineering Associates, Mike Raffa's College Counseling Services and New Era Nannies are participating in Small Business Saturday.
