Backyard Composting

Attend this informative class at Blithewold Mansion, Gardens & Arboretum to learn how to make nutrient-rich soil in your own backyard!

Sunday, November 15, 2015
2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Making “black gold” can be easy, low-cost or free, and even seem magical! Soils and plants thrive with the slow-release fertilizer and organic matter found in high-quality compost.

This class will teach composting basics, including how often to aerate an overflowing compost pile so that it will heat up then shrink down quickly, thus reducing household waste. Find out if worm composting, compost bins or piles, or “hot” versus slow composting is best for your needs!
