What's With the One-Sided Street Signs in Bristol?

Did anyone have company over the fourth of July that could not navigate our that are only printed on one side?  Anyone coming from the Mount Hope Bridge would not be able to find you if you lived in down-town Bristol. When I called the town hall on this about six months ago I was told that they will put up the others when they have money... and that folks get the hang of it after driving around for a while. Really?

Hey, I liked the two-sided, perfectly serviceable green signs.
