Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War Exhibit

Abraham Lincoln traveling exhibit coming to Roger Williams University

Roger Williams University Library is one of over 200 libraries selected to host this exhibition commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. This traveling exhibition is composed of digitally reproduced images of original documents, including a draft of Lincoln’s first inaugural address, the Emancipation Proclamation and the Thirteenth Amendment, as well as significant images and portraits from the Civil War period. It encourages audiences to focus on President Lincoln and the complex constitutional issues he faced during this pivotal time in American history, specifically session, slavery and civil rights. The exhibition is sponsored by the American Library Association in conjunction with the National Endowment for the Humanities and based on the original exhibition developed by the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.
