Warren Father and Son Paint Religious Work

The painting, which depicts St. Vartan at the Battle of Avarayr will be blessed by the bishop.

Rhode Island based artist and retired College Professor, Angelo Marinosci, Jr. poses with his five-year old son Arcangelo as they finishing touches and adjust details on work done on an existing religious painting for Saint Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church of Providence. The painting, which depicts St. Vartan at the Battle of Avarayr will be blessed by the bishop.

Marinosci is a surrealist painter in the Italian Metaphysical School, and not usually working on religious themes but took the project on to adjust and modify several minor aspects of the painting and ready it for it’s upcoming blessing. His own recent work can be viewed at Gallery Z in Providence and Hope Gallery in Bristol as well as Roots Café’ and Palmieri’ s Cafe both in Providence.

His son Arcangelo, who sometimes paints side by side with his father at his studio in Warren, usually works in other media such as Tempera but helped complete this project and assist his Dad in it’s completion and final touches.  Arcangelo has been painting abstracts since he was 14 months old while still in diapers.

“I like exposing Arca to a variety of music, art, theatre, science, geography and anything else he enjoys… we make play out of all of it and he really delights in learning… most children have few limitations all too often, it’s the parent that limits the child," said Marinosci. "I’ve worked in many medium but my son is my finest work of art.”

Angelo Marinosci, Jr., originally of Johnston, has taught at several area Universities including Salve Regina and Brown University and currently resides in Warren. He has exhibited and has been published extensively during the past four decades.

Arcangelo (Federico Harrington) Marinosci lives both in Warren and Riverside and attends kindergarten at in Riverside.
