2. Central Falls CDBG Hearings Set for Oct. 1 on Grant Bids (upriseri.com) — Central Falls residents have just a few days to weigh in on how the city will seek federal Community Development Block Grant money for housing, public facilities, and services, with two hearings on October 1 at 1280 High Street. You can attend midday or evening, or submit written comments to the Planning Department by noon on October 2, helping decide which projects Central Falls pursues for low- and moderate-income neighborhoods.
   

3. Man arrested on sexual assault charge in Central Falls (newportdispatch.com) — Law enforcement officers arrested a 54-year-old Central Falls man on a first-degree sexual assault charge stemming from a Central Falls Police Department warrant. He was taken into custody without incident and turned over to Massachusetts State Police as a fugitive from justice, while separate arrests in Coventry and Lincoln involved unrelated child pornography and fraud cases elsewhere in Rhode Island.
   

4. High school scores, stats, recaps from September 25 games in RI (newportri.com) — Central Falls athletes were busy Friday, with the girls soccer team shutting out Hope 2-0 and the boys battling Narragansett to a 0-0 draw. The roundup also lists many other Rhode Island high school scores and notes that Saturday's games were postponed due to the storm, with some football matchups moved to Sunday, Sept. 27.
   

5. RI Energy bills are going up, then down, then up again. What to expect starting Oct. 1. • Rhode Island Current (rhodeislandcurrent.com) — Central Falls households will see Rhode Island Energy bills rise starting October 1, though state-mandated refunds and winter bill credits will soften the hit before prices climb again in 2027. Residents here are among those who can instead join a community electricity aggregation program, potentially securing lower rates than the utility's default prices as market-driven costs continue to fluctuate.
