Segue Institute for Learning Announces New Leadership Appointments Following Principal Residency Program
New school leaders bring equity-focused training, collaboration, and a shared commitment to student success.

CENTRAL FALLS, RI — The Segue Institute for Learning is announcing a series of leadership appointments across its schools following the completion of an intensive principal residency program designed to prepare the next generation of educational leaders.
As part of the transition:
- Mrs. Michelle Laboissonniere and Mrs. Chloe Allen will serve as co-principals of Davis REACH Academy
- Mrs. Jaclyn Casey will join Mr. Joseph Mitchell, principal, as assistant principal at Legacy High School
- Current Davis REACH Academy principal, Mr. Kevin Montoya, will transition into a district-level leadership position as Chief Academic Officer
Each of the newly appointed leaders completed the Principal Residency Program through the Center for Leadership and Educational Equity, a year-long leadership development program focused on preparing equity-centered school leaders through intensive training, mentorship, and hands-on experience.
“This program is both rigorous and transformational,” said Segue Co-Founder and Superintendent Melissa Lourenco. “These educators have demonstrated the leadership, vision, and commitment necessary to support students, strengthen school communities, and continue moving our district forward.”
Segue is very grateful to have received support from the Rhode Island Registered Apprenticeship Principal Program (RIRAPP). As a RIRAPP awardee, Segue was able to support one principal apprentice this year, Mrs. Laboissonniere at Davis REACH Academy, and will support a second principal apprentice next year at Legacy High School, Mrs. Ana Soares.
The appointments come during a period of continued growth and evolution for the district, including the rollout of the Davis REACH Academy name for the district’s K–8 campus. The academy was recently renamed in honor of award-winning actor, advocate, and Central Falls native Viola Davis, recognizing her long standing support for educational opportunity and the Central Falls community.
“These leadership appointments reflect our investment in continuity, collaboration, and strong school leadership,” said Segue Co-Founder and Executive Director, Angelo Garcia. “We are proud to see leaders who understand our mission continue to grow within our district.”
Legacy High School, part of the Segue Institute for Learning, emphasizes project-based learning, interdisciplinary instruction, hands-on experiences, and authentic assessment strategies designed to prepare students for college, careers, and lifelong success. Students are encouraged to think critically, collaborate with peers, and engage with real-world challenges through meaningful learning opportunities.
College and career readiness remain central to the student experience, with access to mentorship, internships, advising, application support, and career exploration programs that help students confidently pursue future opportunities.
The district plans to share additional updates and opportunities for families and community members to meet the new leadership teams in the coming weeks.
