It has been an amazing 2013 season for the Coventry 8U Fireballs softball team! This unbelievable group of girls got down and dirty and competed in six softball tournaments over an eight week period this summer. During this time, the Fireballs blazed through tournaments which included North Kingstown, Cranston, Darlington, Apponaug, Coventry and the Rhode Island State tournament; five of which the Fireballs took home first place hardware including the Rhode Island State Tournament championship title.
Sealed with a solid infield which consisted of Hannah Hawley on first base, Sammy Gilbert on second, Kacie Reardon at short stop, Abbey Gemma on third , Leah McKeon on the mound and Maddie Bent and Mary Sullivan behind the plate, the Fireballs were backed by an unstoppable outfield which included Evianna Madrid, Haley Primrose, Elyse Saccoccio, Mia Allen, Emily Cronin and Kellie Brouillard. Together, this talented team continuously strived to keep the competition from putting their fire out. Coached by an amazing and dedicated staff--Joe Gemma, Pete Hawley, Mike Gilbert , Jay Reardon and Gina Primrose, they proved that the Coventry Girls Softball League is a committed organization to developing girls softball talent—even at the 8U level.
