Coventry Police Arrest Suspect In Business Break In

Scott Blakney, 48 years old, of Coventry, is a suspect in a Sunday break-in at a Howard Avenue business, police said.

COVENTRY, RI — Scott Blakney, 48 years old, of Coventry, is a suspect in a Sunday break-in at a Howard Avenue, police said. He allegedly stole tools worth more than $15,000. Police responded to the store on Sunday at 7:04 a.m. after the owner reported someone broke a garage window, and the surveillance camera showed a man breaking cameras off the building's exterior.

But other cameras photographed him entering the garage and stealing tools. After reviewing the video, detectives recognized the suspect. He had been arrested in Town in June 2016 for breaking into a local business.

After learning Warwick police had picked him up at 6 p.m. Sunday on a drug charge, Coventry police interviewed him and pressed charges for the break-in. Almost all the stolen tools were recovered, police allege. Anyone with additional information about the case is asked to call the Coventry Police Department at 401-826-1100.
