Davies School Assures Student Safety After Teacher Is Arrested For Child Porn
Coventry resident was found to have had an inappropriate relationship with a student after school investigation.

Coventry resident William Gorry, 53, of 43 Red Oak Drive, an english teacher at the William M. Davies, Jr. Career and Technical High School was arrested Tuesday on a charge of possession of child pornography.
The arrest stemmed from a preliminary investigation conducted by the Davies administration of allegations that Gorry was involved in a sexual and romantic relationship with a 16 year old, 10th grade Davies student. Upon discovering the nature of Gorry’s relationship with this student, Davies promptly reported the information it obtained to the Rhode Island State Police, whose expanded criminal investigation led to Gorry’s arrest.
Gorry has been removed from the Davies campus and placed on administrative leave and the events have been reported to the Rhode Island Department of Education for its consideration and appropriate action. The school is also planning to commence the process required under Rhode Island law to suspend and terminate Gorry’s employment as a teacher.

According to a statement by Davies' attorney Vincent Ragosta Jr., Davies is grateful for the immediate, effective, and thorough assistance of the Rhode Island State Police and Coventry Police Department. The school will carefully monitor the criminal prosecution of Gorry and lend its full cooperation and assistance to that process to the extent required.Â
"Davies assures all members of its community, its students, parents and staff of its steadfast commitment to maintain a safe, secure and productive learning environment," said Ragosta.
